What a distance for a home game away to Kinross, but this is so the teams have equal distances to travel. It is a lovely new 3G pitch and the boys really enjoy playing on it. The first thirty looked promising. In the first ten minutes the boys were in the Elgin goal area a number of times but then the next 20minutes went drastically down hill with silly mistakes from the boys which resulted in us losing 4 goals.

The next thirty I would say was nearly all Stranraer with some lovely passing and a number of shots on goals, with one actually getting past the goalie. It started from mid field with a pass from James Hilton out to Gary Dewar on the right wing, who lobed it into John McCusker who then went on to finish with a great goal. The last thirty started of really well for the young Stranraer boys again with a pass from bobby Lammie through to John McCusker who scored a second. We battled hard to the end but sadly lost another two goals.

Overall the boys had an excellent game but the silly mistakes at the start cost them dearly. I am sure one of these days it will all come together for them as they really deserve it.

The team today was Jonathan Baxter, Fraser Anderson, Fraser Cameron, Gary Dewar, Scott Haazen, Ben Herries, James Hilton, Robert McColm, Bobby Lammie, Finlay Irons, John McCusker, Frazer Shaw, and Gary Hutton.

The under 13's played against Stirling Albion today and they certainly held there own. That is two weeks in a row that the boys have not come off winners but have put in a fair shift to cut the goal tally since the last time the teams met.
Stirling only managed to score one in the first thirty minute period.  The young Blues goalkeeper Fraser Cameron who is still at primary school is certainly not afraid to come towards these larger and older boys. Stranraer had a number of shots on target, however they were not able to guide the ball past the keeper. There was also a free-kick taken by Jonathan Baxter which cannoned back of the frame of the post. Stirling added a few more goals but unfortunately non came from Stranraer. The youngsters can certainly come away from the game with more confidence after putting in a decent performance.

Stranraer Line Up:- Fraser Cameron, Jonathon Baxter, Ben Herries, Stephen Hutton, John McCusker, Gary Dewar, Scott Haazen, Gary Hutton, Frazer Shaw, Neil Ramsay, Robert McColm, Fraser Anderson, Robbie Smith.

Match details from Unofficial Forum Member MacBlue

A Squad of only 12 today due to injuries plus at least 2 of that 12 that turned up far from being at full fitness but willing to dig deep and play for the jersey. In a first 30 minutes where Stranraer saw more of the ball but failed to make the most of the chances created. They somehow found themselves 2 goals behind. Ayr converted a penalty and then took advantage of some ball watching by the Stranraer boys to tap in a rebound after a great stop by the keeper. At the start of the second 30 minutes it was clear that the Stranraer side were determined to continue to take the game to Ayr despite the set backs. Playing some of their best football again they eventually got the goal they deserved and soon followed it up with an equaliser.

Todays game was a very keenly fought game with both sides having several good opportunites.  However in the end 0-0 was probably a fair result in tough windy conditions at Stair Park.

Inverclyde

What a brilliant weekend. It was non stop from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. The kids and coaches were allocated there rooms and changed straight away for the 12yrs and younger to play friendlies against Livingstone, which ended up  great games in glorious sunshine , the under 15,s were training also in the sunshine. After this we had a beautiful meal, a small rest for the boys to have a look around, visit the games room, go to the tuck shop etc. We all then split into groups and did a course in the woods which had different stations to do different exercises. What a laugh and very exhausting. After our evening meal we went to a large games hall and split into teams for 7 asides, including the coaches and us ladies. At night we watched a recording, which had been done by us of the boys through out the day. I think the boys really enjoyed watching themselves on the television. After that we were going to watch match of the day but we were all so tired hardly any of us saw it.
