How to get to Stair Park
For Public Transport Links Please try our "Transport " Page
From North:
Head south on the M77/A77, following signs for Ayr. Continue south, passing Ayr, until you reach the "Whitletts" roundabout. From here, follow signs for Stranraer. Then take the first exit on the left (McMasters Road) to Stranraer. You will pass Stranraer Academy on your right. Now turn right into London Road. Continue along this road until you see a public park on your left (almost opposite Stranraer Academy). The main stand is visible from the road. You can turn left into Stair Park - parking is free on match days.
(above) London Road. Stair Park is situated just out of sight on the right of the image, behind the hedge. Arrow shows the direction you will be travelling as you enter Stranraer.
From South:
Head west on the A75 towards Stranraer (from Dumfries). As you enter Stranraer, the A75 becomes London Road. You will pass Stranraer Academy on your right. Almost opposite to this is Stair Park. The main stand is visible from the road. Now take the next left (slow down as the entrance is narrow) to the ground where parking is free.
(above) Stranraer's main stand (blue seats) and Toon End' end section of ground (extreme right) from London Road. Grassy area in front of stadium used for parking on match days.
Once you're at the ground
The stand facing you with the blue seats is the main stand. This is primarily used by home fans, but segregation can differ in cup games. This stand also includes the main entrance, changing rooms, offices and hospitality suites. If you have complimentary tickets, you can pick them up from the main entrance. The stand has 1500 seats. The club shop is also present here. The smaller stand with its back to you is known as the 'Coo Shed' - a seated enclosure which is used by away fans. It can hold over 300 spectators. To access this stand, use the turnstiles to the left of it. These also give access to the away supporters terracing, behind and to each side of the east goal. A snack outlet and toilets are available. To the right of the Coo Shed, behind the west goal, is the covered terracing for home supporters(see above image). This also contains a snack outlet. Home supporters also receive the section of terracing beside the Coo Shed and main stand on the opposite side of the pitch. To find out more about Stair Park, click here. If you arrive with some time to spare, you could take a walk into town. Leave your car at Stair Park and continue down London Road, heading towards the town centre. You will see a 'Morrisons' supermarket on your right as you walk along. If you continue forward, you will arrive in the centre of town shortly. Bookmakers', banks, newsagents, restaurants, chippies, pubs and sports outlets are all located in the area around Castle Green. If you've got a while to spend in the town, you could take a tour of the Tower or go to the Ryan Centre for a swim (both are clearly signposted).
Or, instead of following London Rd. to the town centre, you could turn right up Stair Drive and walk down to the harbour where there's always something going on. Further afield (you'll probably need your car), you could continue along the A77 past the town centre and away from Stranraer where you'll find some beautiful views of the loch and the surrounding area.
