Faz 2THE season is not officially over just yet, but already Stevie Farrell has his second new signing for the 2017/18 season.

The second leg of the play-off final between Alloa Athletic and Brechin City kicks off in less than 12 hours time with Stranraer returning to pre-season in early June.

Already, the Stranraer boss has added brought in Ryan Wallace from Albion Rovers and tonight (Friday) he confirmed Morgyn Neill would be returning to the club.

Speaking at tea time, Farrell said: "We were keen to tie him up, and the deal was done about an hour ago.

"We are still in talks with Amadou Kassaraté and Morgyn has signed.
"Morgyn was great for me and he was somebody we were keen to get on board.

"We are delighted we have signed him."

Inevitably, it will be a new look Stranraer side coming out onto the park in July.

Already, six players have left the club with it confirmed Craig Pettigrew, Giuliano Morena, Sam McCloskey, Michael Donald, Mark McGuigan and Willie Gibson will be playing their football elsewhere.

The manager brought in 26 year old forward Wallace earlier this week, and he will not be the last new face before the start of the new campaign.

Farrell said: "I'm really pleased that Ryan has signed.
"He is a player I have admired and have done for a number of years.

"He is somebody we had targeted and he is somebody both myself and Stevie Aitken admired when he was at Dunfermline.

"When he went to Albion Rovers, he impressed me greatly and he is somebody who has been on the radar for a wee while."

The hitman found the net 11 times last season and Stranraer fans will hope he brings those goalscoring boots down the A77 as well.

However, as one striker enters, another one leaves.

Farrell confirmed just a few hours ago that it was very unlikely that Craig Malcolm would be returning to the club.
The East Kilbride based striker has scored 104 goals over two spells with the club but the manager said: "Craig is not going to be re-signing.

"He has decided he wants to move on and he has got some personal reasons, he has got a wee boy that plays football.

"We wish Craig all the best and he has been a great servant to the club and scored some important goals.

Elsewhere, talks remain ongoing with full-back Liam Dick, who Farrell is hoping could remain at the club for a third season.

The manager is also hoping to bring in one more defensive player with possibly another three at the other end of park.

Finally, the club has confirmed a third pre-season friendly to go alongside the home ties with Larne and FC Twente.

Partick Thistle, opponents in pre-season last summer, will again provide the opposition, with the tie taking place on the evening of Tuesday 4 July at Lochinch Playing Fields in Glasgow.
