... before taking on Albion Rovers on Tuesday 19 December

Ryan Thomson

Ryan Thomson

Position: Midfield
Date of birth: 13/4/91
Place of birth: Glasgow
Previous clubs: Dunfermline Athletic, Albion Rovers

Thomson is a combative midfielder who likes to force his way into the box at any opportunity, and provides an aerial threat from set pieces. He made his first team debut for Dunfermline at the age of just 17, and netted 21 goals in 140 appearances for the Pars as they contested the top two divisions. Former Stranraer manager Stevie Aitken signed Thomson in summer 2015, and he scored 5 goals in 38, becoming a mainstay in the Blues midfield towards the end of the 2015/16 season under Brian Reid. Made another 38 appearances in 2016/17, scoring 4, and will look to build on that tally.

David Barron

David Barron

Position: Defender/Midfielder
Date of birth: 10/9/1987
Place of birth: Greenock
Previous clubs: Partick Thistle, St Mirren

A graduate of the youth system at Partick Thistle, David moved on to join St Mirren when the Jags released him in 2005 along with Frank McKeown and Armand Oné. The 29 year old quickly became established but had little luck with injuries during his spell with the Paisley club. He made 120 appearances, many of those in the Premiership, and bagged just the one goal, in a 3-0 Scottish Cup win over Dumbarton. Signed for Stranraer in August 2015, but injuries hampered his first season at Stair Park. 2016/17 was much more fruitful for the experienced defender, who became a key player for the Blues.

Kyle Turner

Kyle Turner

Position: Midfielder
Date of birth: 10/11/97
Place of birth: Paisley
Previous clubs: St Mirren, Partick Thistle, Glentyan Boys' Club

Exciting young midfielder Kyle put pen to paper on a new contract in October 2016 which sees him remain at the club until summer 2019. Skilful on the ball and with composure beyond his years, the son of former Morton, St Johnstone and St Mirren midfielder Tommy Turner was outstanding for Matt Maley's U20 side and is continuing his development amongst the experienced Blues midfield. Scored 4 goals in 37 appearances last season.
