REPORT: Stephen Okoh hit a double and set up a third for Angus Beith to earn the Blues a memorable 3-2 comeback win over Airdrie
NEXT: It's football for a fiver at Stair Park as Stranraer take on Raith Rovers on Saturday - and primary school kids go free.
Brian ReidStranraer FC are delighted to announce the appointment today of Brian Reid as our new manager. The 44 year old brings a wealth of experience and was identified very quickly as the outstanding candidate for the post so the club have moved to appoint him with immediate effect.
Brian has until recently been working for Coventry City as a coach and prior to that he was manager at Conference side, Nuneaton Town which followed a spell in the Phillipines as Coach/Manager of Global FC and also the under 23 International side.
He is of course best known for his successful 5 year spell as manager of Ayr United where he delivered promotion twice for the Honest Men and took them to the Quarter Final of the Scottish Cup and the Semi Final of the League Cup in 2012.
Brian said today that he was "delighted to be given the opportunity to become manager of Stranraer FC and can't wait to get started." His task of assembling a squad for the new season has already begun.

Welcome to the club Brian.
saitken1415smallStranraer FC can now confirm that manager Stephen Aitken has accepted a 2 year deal to take over as manager at Dumbarton Football Club with immediate effect. The club are naturally disappointed to lose our manager after his successful 2 1/2 years in charge at Stair Park that made him the 3rd longest serving manager in the SPFL securing our position in League One in his first half season before going on to finish 3rd and 2nd in the subsequent 2 seasons to make the Blues one of, if not the best, part-time club in the country. Nevertheless, as an ambitious young manager we recognise that there was a degree of inevitability that Stephen would eventually be offered a challenge at a higher level that he would find too good to turn down and he has decided to take up the challenge with Dumbarton in the Championship.

Stranraer Football club would like to extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Stephen and his team for a memorable last couple of years or so and take this opportunity to wish him every success in his new venture and he moves on with our very best wishes as he furthers his career in the game.

Things have moved very quickly over the past few days and the club has already commenced the process of finding a successor so that the squad can be assembled and ready for pre-season training in a few weeks time.

All interested and qualified applicants should submit a CV by email to the club at This email address is being protected from spambots.
