The SPFL today announced the fixtures for the 2016/17 Ladbrokes League 1 season. Stranraer will have a tough start, facing the two relegated Championship sides over consecutive weekends.

A return to the scene of our playoff semi final triumph will see us take on Livingston at Tony Macaroni Arena on Saturday 6 August. Jamie Longworth makes his return to Stair Park the following weekend, as we welcome Alloa Athletic.

Brian said: "Liam showed by winning Stranraer Young Player of the Year while on loan from Falkirk that he is a capable defender, and one I'm delighted will be staying with us for the coming season".

Reid also revealed that experienced defender David Barron will again join the squad for pre season training.

"Everyone could see Div is a class player. Unfortunately his season was devastated by injury, but we all hope he can come back and push for a long term starting position with us next season".
