STRANRAER boss Stevie Farrell has apologised to fans after his side tumbled out of the Scottish Cup.

The Blues suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Brora Rangers last weekend to ensure their cup journey was ended at the first possible stage.

It was a result which disappointed fans, players and management alike.

Farrell pulled no punches and said: "When you get a result like there is nowhere to hide, there are no excuses and I have got to take full responsibility as manager.

"It was just so disappointing in so many aspects.

"We knew it was a big game for the club financially and the result was so disappointing.

"I apologised to the club and I meant it and I apologise to the fans and mean that as well.

"I am in charge of the club and as manager when results happen like that then I take responsibility."

Now, the Blues will purely have to focus on the league and aim to put their stuttering form behind them.

Inconsistency has been the Blues' biggest rival this season as they have failed to really string an impressive run together.

The Stair Park boss was hoping to see a response from his players after last weekend's disappointment.

Farrell said: "I learned a lot about my players last week but more important about myself - it is how you deal with it.

"It was the most difficult result I have had as a manager."
