LIAM Dick is aiming to quickly get back to winning ways after Stranraer suffered their first league defeat of the season.

Raith Rovers proved too strong for Stevie Farrell's men on Saturday but the Blues do not have long to wait as they bid to get on the right track.

An IRN-BRU Cup trip to Clyde awaits tomorrow (Tuesday) evening with Stranraer aiming to pick up their first win away to the Bully Wee since May 1998.

Dick said: "After a defeat in a game, the first thing you want to do is try to put it to bed.

"So, we are lucky enough we have got an opportunity.

"The boys are fighting now to keep the jersey, so, the boys will be at it and it will not be by any means an easy game.

"Clyde are a good team and just because they are a league below does not make any difference.

"I think we will all still have to be at it and if we are not then we will get punished."

Stranraer had matched their opponents for large chunks of the first half on Saturday before a moment of sloppiness saw Lewis Vaughan open the scoring.

The hosts were an improved outfit after the break while Stranraer struggled to match their first half showing.

In the end, Vaughan added another with Greig Spence also on target as Barry Smith's men wrapped up an ultimately comfortable victory.

Dick said: "It is hard to take.

"I think, obviously, this is going to be one of the harder places in the league to come.

"I think, in the first half, we showed that we are definitely up to the task of playing teams like Raith and we will be playing teams like Ayr.

"In the second half we let ourselves down.

"The second goal went in and we looked a bit disheartened and the third goal kills the game off.

"I think that is something we have got to work on - a stronger mentality."

The full back was predicting another tough tie this weekend when Ian McCall's Ayr United head down the A77 for the first time this season.

The Honest Men have enjoyed an impressive start to the season and go into the tie on top of the League One table.

Dick said: "It will be tough.

"Obviously, the bonus is we are at Stair Park, we are at home, and we always like to try to make Stair Park a fortress.

"The gaffer has said that and I think we got off to a good start last week against East Fife.

"We got a good performance and a good three points and I think it will benefit us being at home with the fans and everybody behind us."
