Club captain Steven Bell has joined League 1 leaders Ayr United on a deal until the end of the 2018/19 season.

The midfielder turned defender, who is 33 next month, initially joined us in October 2013 following a 3 year injury layoff.

Steven overcame this adversity to record over 150 appearances for Stranraer and helped us to back-to-back playoff finishes in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Bell described his feelings to the Daily Record website after exiting Stair Park.

He said: "It's difficult leaving Stranraer after a 5-1 defeat but I need to do what is best for me.

"They are lovely people there, many of whom will be lifelong friends. They have a small support but they are tightly knit."

We'll have further squad news in due course, along with all the latest from Stevie Farrell ahead of the trip to Hampden.
